Theodoros Pressure - Théo Gennitsakis [FRA]

Γεννήθηκε και μεγάλωσε στο Παρίσι, όπου βρέθηκαν οι Έλληνες γονείς του ως μετανάστες, και σήμερα αναδεικνύεται ως μια χαρακτηριστική φωνή που επαναπροσδιορίζει το σύγχρονο δημιουργικό τοπίο. Αντλώντας από την πολιτισμική ποικιλομορφία της γαλλικής πρωτεύουσας, η ανατροφή του μπολιάστηκε με τον πλούτο της ελληνικής του κληρονομιάς, η οποία έρχεται σε γόνιμη αντιπαράθεση με το δυναμικό, πολυπολιτισμικό περιβάλλον της ζωής στις πόλεις.

Πέρα από τα πολυδιάστατα ταλέντα του στο design, ο Θεόδωρος είναι εξίσου δραστήριος στο creative direction, την παραγωγή και τη φωτογραφία. Είναι ιδρυτής της Pressure Culture, δημιουργικού γραφείου και εταιρείας παραγωγής, καθώς και της Pressure Clothes, της δικής του σειράς ρούχων. Επιπλέον, ηγείται της Pressure, μιας εταιρείας καλλιτεχνικής διεύθυνσης και παραγωγής με έδρα το Παρίσι, ενώ παράλληλα συμμετέχει ενεργά στην οικογενειακή επιχείρηση, το ελληνικό εστιατόριο Maria’s στο 11ο διαμέρισμα του Παρισιού.

Συνδυάζοντας την πολυπολιτισμική του ανατροφή με μια παγκόσμια οπτική, ο Γεννιτσάκης δημιουργεί μια αισθητική που είναι ταυτόχρονα τοπική και διεθνής. Το έργο του αντανακλά έναν βαθύ σεβασμό για τις ελληνικές του ρίζες, οι οποίες λειτουργούν τόσο ως αφετηρία όσο και ως απόκλιση από τις παραδοσιακές εικόνες που σχετίζονται με την Ελλάδα. Η σύγχρονη ευαισθησία του είναι τολμηρή και αφοπλιστικά ειλικρινής, ενώ η μεσογειακή του προσέγγιση έχει εμπνεύσει brands, δημιουργούς και μέσα ενημέρωσης, αντλώντας στοιχεία από ελληνικές και αραβικές επιρροές και εστιάζοντας στην ακατέργαστη, αυθεντική πλευρά της ζωής.

Η φωτογραφική του έκθεση για το VAiF25 αποτελεί μια οπτική εξερεύνηση της πολιτισμικής πλευράς μιας ξεχασμένης περιοχής στη βόρεια Ελλάδα: των Σερρών. Οι Σέρρες είναι μια φτωχή αλλά γεμάτη παραδόσεις, θρησκευτικότητα και υπόγειες κοινωνικές κινήσεις περιοχή. Το γεγονός ότι η οικογένειά του κατάγεται από εκεί, του έδωσε τα «κλειδιά» για να ανοίξει πόρτες και να φωτογραφίσει στιγμές και ανθρώπους που ως τώρα έμεναν αθέατοι. Τα τελευταία πέντε χρόνια περνά τον περισσότερο του χρόνο στο χωριό των γονιών του, τη Μαυροθάλασσα, χτίζοντας δεσμούς με τους κατοίκους και συμμετέχοντας ενεργά στο πολιτισμικό γίγνεσθαι της περιοχής.

Born and raised in Paris to Greek immigrant parents, emerges as a powerful voice reshaping the creative landscape. Growing up amidst the cultural diversity of the French capital, Théo’s upbringing was imbued with the rich tapestry of his Greek heritage, juxtaposed against the dynamic backdrop of urban life.

Beyond his multifaceted talents in design, Theodoros is also a force in creative direction, production, and photography. He is the founder of Pressure Culture, a creative and production company, and Pressure Clothes, his own clothing line. Additionally, he spearheads a Paris-based art direction and production company named Pressure. Not to mention his involvement in the family business, the Greek restaurant “Maria’s,” which is located in the 11th district of Paris.

By blending his multicultural upbringing with a global perspective to create a truly unique aesthetic, his work reflects a deep reverence for his Greek roots, which also serve as a departure from the traditional imagery associated with Greece, embracing a contemporary sensibility that is at once bold and unapologetic.

This Mediterranean aesthetic has inspired numerous brands, individuals, and media outlets, drawing from Arab and Greek influences in an authentic manner. Théo’s world is characterized by a genuine appreciation for the raw and natural aspects of life, often capturing the essence of local families in their daily routines rather than focusing solely on famous personalities.

This exhibition extends that same sensibility into a deeply personal project, depicting the cultural side of a forgotten area in northern Greece: Serres. Serres is an impoverished region of Greece, full of traditions, religion, and clandestine movements. The fact that Théo’s family comes from there granted him access to people and places rarely seen, allowing him to photograph moments and individuals that would otherwise remain invisible. Over the past five years, he has spent much of his time in his parents’ village, Mavrothalassa, nurturing relationships and becoming part of the region’s evolving cultural movement.

Through this body of work, Théo offers a visual narrative that bridges his Parisian perspective with his ancestral homeland, capturing an intimate portrait of identity, belonging, and resilience in contemporary rural Greece.
